Lithium Ion Batteries

The lithium-ion battery is a secondary battery consisting of two electrodes made from lithium-containing compounds. These lithium compounds are intercalated materials During charging and discharging, the lithium ion will move from the positive to the negative electrode or from the negative to the positive electrode. For this reason, the lithium-ion battery is also called a rocking- chair battery

The lithium compound electrode was discovered in the 1970s as a result of basic research at the University of Oxford
